| Kansas City Metro A growing, privately owned electrical contractor serving residential and commercial builders across the Kansas City metro is hiring a full-time Excavator Operator for underground electrical work. You will run a mini excavator on a two-person trench crew, dig to plan and utility markings, and work alongside a helper to lay and connect conduit before backfill, then haul the machine between jobsites with a company-provided truck and flatbed trailer. This is a strong fit for an experienced operator who takes pride in clean trenches and safe work. You will get steady hours with a company that has more work coming than it can cover. Up to $30.00 per hour, based on experience Full-time hourly, 7:00 a.m. start; end times vary with the job, and overtime is available when projects require it PTO, Holidays Does not require CDL, must have clean driving record
Overview:
Dig and prepare trenches to the approved route, depth, width, and grade, following utility markings and site safety plans. Lay, align, and connect PVC conduit, sweeps, and fittings with a helper, and protect the installation until it is approved. Backfill, compact, and restore the work area after inspection. Stop work and report unmarked utilities, unsafe conditions, damage, and near misses right away. Transport the excavator between jobsites with a company truck and flatbed trailer, and secure it properly. Inspect, clean, and fuel your equipment daily, and report defects at once. Keep daily reports and time records accurate. Help with general labor and material handling when the machine is not running, and work in tight spots around houses, vehicles, and utilities without damaging them.
Preferred skills and experience:
Strongly Preferred - Hands-on mini excavator experience in trenching, underground utility, sitework, or electrical construction (a couple of years) Strongly Preferred - Comfortable towing a truck and flatbed trailer with an excavator and strapping the machine down safely Working knowledge of trench depth, width, routing, clearances, conduit protection, backfill, and utility-marking procedures Basic knowledge of underground electrical conduit, fittings, sweeps, spacers, and warning tape Experience with skid steers, trenchers, compactors, or loaders Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Able to lift 50 pounds or more and work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, and mud Follows plans, markings, and safety rules, and completes required training or equipment qualifications Organized, dependable, and a clear communicator who works well on a small crew
