About the Role SMC Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a skilled Mini Excavator Operator to support underground utility and telecommunications construction projects. This role is responsible for safely operating equipment to assist with trenching, conduit placement, and site preparation in both residential and commercial environments. Key Responsibilities Operate mini excavator for trenching, digging, grading, and backfilling Perform work around existing underground utilities with precision and safety Assist with installation of conduit, fiber, and other underground infrastructure Read and interpret basic site plans and utility markings Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols Work closely with crew members to complete projects efficiently Perform general labor duties as needed when not operating equipment Preferred Skills and Qualifications 1-3+ years of experience operating a mini excavator in construction or utility work Experience in telecommunications, fiber, or underground utility work preferred Ability to safely trench around live utilities (gas, electric, water, etc.) Knowledge of trenching standards and safety practices Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred Equal Opportunity & Inclusion Statement SMCiS is an equal opportunity employer.
