Heavy Equipment Operator Responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy construction equipment, including: Excavators Dozers Motor graders Loaders Rollers Skid steers Other heavy construction equipment as required Operators should have a strong understanding of heavy civil construction practices and be able to read and understand plan sets, design drawings, survey/layout markings, elevations, and grade information. Responsibilities may include shooting and checking grade for site grading, roadway construction, footings, foundations, underground utilities, and other heavy civil construction activities. Operators are responsible for performing daily pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment, including fueling, greasing, cleaning, and identifying potential maintenance or safety concerns. Required inspection forms and daily records must be completed accurately, and equipment damage or mechanical concerns must be reported promptly. Candidates must communicate effectively with crew members, foremen, subcontractors, management, inspectors, clients, and the general public while maintaining a professional attitude at all times. Laborer Responsible for performing a variety of general construction and manual labor activities in support of heavy civil construction operations. Laborers must maintain dependable and consistent attendance and have a basic understanding of the proper and safe use of construction equipment, materials, hand tools, and supplies.
Responsibilities may include:
Shoveling and moving dirt, gravel, asphalt, and other materials Raking and grading materials Preparing surfaces for construction Working around ditches, culverts, roadways, and underground utilities Assisting operators and foremen with grade and excavation work Installing or assisting with pipe and underground utility work Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment Maintaining a clean and organized jobsite Performing other construction-related duties as assigned Laborers must be able to work independently when required and complete assigned daily activities according to the project schedule and direction provided by the foreman or operator. Qualifications & Responsibilities Must be at least 18 years of age. Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Class A CDL preferred. 1+ years of heavy equipment operation or heavy civil construction experience preferred. Knowledge of construction materials, methods, equipment, and tools. Ability to safely and effectively operate construction equipment when qualified to do so. Ability to read and understand basic construction plans, grade information, and layout markings is preferred. Have strong attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain a safe worksite. Able to lift 50+ lbs. Able to perform strenuous manual labor in an outdoor construction environment. Safely and efficiently assist with laboring activities including raking, shoveling, grading, and material handling. Work well with others and be willing to take direction from foremen and supervisors. Perform required daily safety and maintenance checks. Properly use and maintain company tools and equipment. Maintain accurate daily records and equipment inspection forms when required. Follow all Jeffery Contracting safety policies and applicable
OSHA/MSHA
regulations and safe working procedures. Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment. Demonstrate self-motivation and strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
