NDDOT Starting Salary:
$5,650 per month As an Equipment Operator III, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. This includes operating heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties like basic snow and ice control/removal. You will complete highway maintenance duties, which include assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails. To complete these tasks and others assigned, you will operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties. Part of this job is to keep the roadways clear of any hazards, this includes litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses. You will complete building and ground maintenance duties, and general routine maintenance of the roadway and radio system equipment. You will also perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, road reports, etc. You will perform construction project duties. You will be the decision maker for section when supervisor is gone. Minimum Qualifications Requires two years work experience at the Equipment Operator II level. Or high school diploma or GED and three years of work experience with heavy equipment operations, highway maintenance or construction-related work, and a class A driver's license with air brakes and a cargo tanker endorsement. Two years of college coursework in engineering, heavy equipment operation or maintenance may substitute for up to two years of the work experience requirement. Work on night shift may be required. Work on weekends, and holidays during emergency events. Will be at times required to report to work within 30 minutes during emergency or storm situations. Previous experience in safely operating equipment such as tractors with attachments, farm trucks, etc. preferred. Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Related MOS codes include Truck Driver (88M), Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N), and Pavements & Construction (3E2X1). Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, job function screening, reference check, driver record check and federal clearinghouse query screening.
