Job Description

The Town of Derry has an immediate opening for a Motor Equipment Operator (MEO) in our Highway Department.
Duties include:
A variety of public works construction and maintenance activities, with special responsibility for operating equipment, including vehicles over 26,000 GVW, and trucks equipped with snowplows and other equipment in snow and ice control activities. MEOs maintain streets and drainage systems, perform masonry, stonework, building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and painting work. MEOs maintain department equipment and perform other minor maintenance and repair work to keep equipment in safe operating condition, while ensuring proper safety precautions are taken in the use of equipment and performance of assignments. MEOs are expected to be On-Call and respond to emergencies after normal working hours. Candidates for this position must have: A valid Driver's License Class B Commercial License within 6 months of hire. One to two years' experience in equipment operation. Considerable knowledge of hazards/safety precautions. Considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of trucks, tractors, snowplows, and similar equipment. The ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
