POSITION SUMMARY

The Telehandler Operator is responsible for safely operating a telescopic forklift/telehandler to move, lift, place, and stage materials and equipment at assigned job sites in Doña Ana and Westbrook, New Mexico. This position requires a strong commitment to workplace safety, careful equipment operation, and effective communication with supervisors and other personnel working on the job site. The ideal candidate will have previous experience operating telehandlers or similar heavy equipment and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions. This job is from Oct. 2-Nov. 25th, 7 days a week, 8 hours a day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely operate telehandlers to lift, transport, position, and stage materials and equipment. Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of assigned equipment. Inspect forks, tires, hydraulic systems, controls, safety devices, fluid levels, and other critical components before operation. Follow manufacturer load charts, rated capacities, and operating requirements. Properly position and secure loads before lifting or transporting materials. Evaluate ground conditions, overhead hazards, slopes, clearances, and surrounding personnel before operating equipment. Maintain safe distances from workers, structures, vehicles, power lines, and other potential hazards. Work with spotters and ground personnel when positioning or moving loads. Follow established hand signals and job-site communication procedures. Load and unload materials from trucks and designated staging areas as required. Maintain an organized and safe work area. Immediately report equipment damage, mechanical problems, unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor. Complete required equipment inspection forms, operating logs, and other job-site documentation. Follow company safety policies, site-specific procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements. Attend toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required training. Assist with general site duties when telehandler operation is not required. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience operating a telehandler, rough-terrain forklift, forklift, or similar material-handling equipment preferred. Must be trained and authorized to operate the equipment assigned in accordance with company and applicable safety requirements. Knowledge of safe lifting practices, equipment capacity limitations, and load placement. Ability to understand load charts and equipment operating instructions. Ability to recognize unsafe ground conditions and job-site hazards. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, spotters, and other field personnel. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Dependable attendance and ability to report to assigned job sites on time. Valid driver's license may be required based on job-site and transportation responsibilities. Must meet applicable company and job-site safety requirements.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety is an essential function of this position. The Telehandler Operator is expected to: Conduct required equipment inspections before each shift. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest/clothing, gloves, and safety-toe footwear as applicable. Never exceed the manufacturer's rated capacity or approved load limits. Never operate equipment that is damaged or considered unsafe. Use seat belts and other installed operator-restraint systems. Maintain awareness of pedestrians and equipment operating in the work area. Follow established procedures when working near overhead electrical lines or other hazards. Stop work and immediately notify supervision when an unsafe condition is identified. Follow all company, client, OSHA, and site-specific safety rules. Certification is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the physical functions associated with telehandler and construction-site operations, which may include: Frequently entering and exiting heavy equipment. Sitting for extended periods while operating equipment. Standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and working on uneven terrain. Using hands and feet to operate equipment controls. Working around noise, dust, dirt, moving equipment, and construction activities. Working outdoors in hot, cold, windy, dusty, or changing weather conditions. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds , with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to pass medical fitness test. This role will require a drug and background test.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed outdoors at construction, industrial, or other active job sites in the Doña Ana and Westbrook, New Mexico areas . The employee may be exposed to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions. Work schedules may vary according to project requirements and may include early mornings, extended shifts, overtime, weekends, or schedule changes when necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1+ years of telehandler or rough-terrain forklift operating experience. Experience working on construction or industrial job sites. Current forklift/telehandler operator training or certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training. Familiarity with daily equipment inspection procedures and documentation. Experience working with spotters, riggers, or material-handling crews.
