About Terra Contracting Terra Contracting, Inc. is a growing underground utility contractor specializing in the installation, repair, and maintenance of critical underground infrastructure throughout Southern Nevada. Our work includes fiber optic and telecommunications, natural gas, power, excavation, directional drilling, and other underground utility construction. We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused Hydrovac Operator / CDL Class A Driver to join our field operations team. This is more than a truck-driving position. Our Hydrovac Operators play an important role in safely exposing existing utilities, supporting excavation and underground construction crews, and operating specialized equipment around critical infrastructure. If you have Hydrovac experience, underground utility experience, or strong heavy equipment and commercial driving experience, we want to hear from you. What You'll DoHydrovac & Vacuum Excavation Safely operate Hydrovac trucks and associated vacuum excavation equipment. Perform non-destructive excavation to safely expose existing underground utilities. Perform potholing and utility daylighting ahead of excavation and underground construction activities. Support trenching, excavation, directional drilling, fiber, gas, power, and other utility operations. Operate high-pressure water and vacuum systems safely and efficiently. Properly position and set up the Hydrovac truck and equipment at the jobsite. Work around existing underground utilities, construction crews, traffic, and heavy equipment. Assist with excavation, cleanup, material handling, and other field activities as needed. CDL & Transportation Safely operate company Hydrovac trucks and other commercial vehicles. Transport equipment, materials, water, and debris to and from jobsites. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Secure equipment and materials in accordance with DOT and company requirements. Maintain accurate driver and vehicle documentation. Operate vehicles safely in residential, commercial, roadway, and active construction environments. Equipment & Maintenance Inspect Hydrovac equipment, hoses, pumps, tanks, vacuum systems, and related components before use. Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance. Identify equipment problems and promptly report maintenance concerns. Keep assigned equipment, tools, and work areas clean and organized. Assist with basic troubleshooting when necessary. Follow manufacturer recommendations and Terra operating procedures. Safety & Teamwork Follow Terra's safety policies, OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, and jobsite procedures. Properly use required PPE and maintain a safe work area. Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings. Communicate effectively with Foremen, Superintendents, Project Managers, equipment operators, and other field personnel. Follow directions and communicate changing jobsite conditions. Work safely around energized and existing underground infrastructure. Assist field crews with construction activities when Hydrovac work is complete or additional support is needed. What We're Looking For Required Valid Class A CDL with Tanker (N) endorsement. Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company and DOT requirements. Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles. Ability to work outdoors in Southern Nevada weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding construction work. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb, and work around heavy equipment. Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow established procedures. Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and field crews. Ability to pass required pre-employment screening. Preferred Previous Hydrovac or vacuum excavation experience. Underground utility construction experience. Fiber optic or telecommunications construction experience. Natural gas or electrical utility experience. Experience with potholing or daylighting underground utilities. Experience operating dump trucks, vacuum trucks, lowboys, or other heavy commercial vehicles. Experience working around active utilities and construction equipment. Experience with excavation, trenching, directional drilling, or other underground construction. OSHA 10 certification. Experience performing basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. What Makes a Successful Terra Hydrovac Operator? We're looking for someone who understands that the job is not simply: "Drive the truck and dig." A successful operator understands that Hydrovac work requires precision, communication, and awareness of everything happening around the truck. You should be comfortable asking questions when something doesn't look right, communicating with the crew before excavating around an existing utility, taking care of expensive equipment, and helping the crew get the job done safely and efficiently. Physical & Work Environment This is a physically demanding construction position.
