Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our dynamic construction team in our Syracuse, NY location. Syracuse Haulers is a full-line waste removal company locally owned and operated who is dedicated and designed to build successful partnerships using our superior customer service. In this vital role, you will operate a variety of heavy machinery to support construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and precision at every stage. Your expertise will help bring complex projects to life, from site preparation to final touches, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, cranes, and other machinery to perform tasks such as grading, digging, lifting, and material transport
  • Manage construction site activities by safely operating front loader trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, roll-off trucks, and tanker trucks as needed
  • Assist with concrete mixing operations using concrete mixers and support related tasks on-site
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly
  • Follow safety protocols rigorously during all operations to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate equipment use efficiently across various phases of construction projects
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and operational reports
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Proven experience operating a range of heavy machinery on construction sites or similar environments
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment systems for troubleshooting and minor repairs
  • Familiarity with construction processes including site preparation, grading, excavation, and material handling
  • Experience working with construction equipment brands such as Caterpillar or equivalent heavy machinery manufacturers
  • Knowledge of safety procedures specific to heavy-equipment operation and construction sites
  • Ability to read technical manuals and interpret operational instructions effectively
Qualifications:
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license with experience driving heavy vehicles such as payloaders, forklifts, excavators, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test Why Work for Syracuse Haulers?
