The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment to support site development and excavation activities. This role requires attention to accuracy and teamwork to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to specifications for assigned construction projects. Reports to the Foreman and Superintendent for assignment priority and delegation of tasks to ensure work is completed on time and with accuracy. Assist with daily excavation tasks including, but not limited to trenching, backfilling/tamping, and grading, while adhering to phase specifications and safety policies. Operates tampers, jack hammers, demolition saws, pumps, and pressure washers as required. Operate company vehicles, material handlers, scissor lifts, dump trucks, rental equipment, towing trailers, and compressors. Perform manual labor tasks on site when necessary. Assist other Operators and Laborers as needed by shoveling trenches, light utility work, and removing any hazards on the job site. Ensure proper installation and maintenance of E&S control measures. Assists in the coordination of company assets and materials between work sites and storage. Responsible for organizing and maintaining site storage trailers, equipment, and storage yards. Identifies and reports machinery/equipment maintenance issues to the Site Foreman and Superintendent to ensure safe and efficient repair. Responsible for the ongoing usage, care/upkeep, maintenance, and cleanliness of all equipment and tools, ensuring reliability and safe working conditions. Assists with snow removal on construction sites and other properties as directed. Assist Foreman/Superintendent in maintaining safety, scheduling, and delivery of material by acting as another set of eyes on site. What we are looking for from you... Must have a valid Driver's License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation 3-5 years' experience operating heavy equipment for site work Able to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment w/o supervision: Excavator (Full Size & Mini), Track Loader, Dozer, Skid Loader, Backhoe, Rollers Experience working in trench boxes and performing proper trench benching and sloping in compliance with safety requirements. Proven knowledge of proper shoring techniques Must have experience with installing and testing water lines, sewer lines, and dry utilities Ability to work from construction specifications or blueprints Utilizes GPS proficiently within assigned equipment Proven ability to lead by example and work alongside crews when needed Safety Oriented
