Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company is a privately-held U.S. corporation headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1942 as a metallurgical coal and coke producer. Today, Mid-Continent is an international sales organization marketing metallurgical coke, anthracite coal, and petroleum coke, specializing in the sale of small-size coke. Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company has 15 coke screening facilities and five carbon drying operations in North America. We have a network capable of shipping by truck, rail, barge, or vessel in quantities of 25 tons to 65,000 tons.
Position Overview:
Mid-Continent Coal and Coke is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Operator/Loader for our Huger, SC operation. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment, supporting material handling and loadout activities, and assisting with general plant operations in a fast-paced industrial environment. The ideal candidate is driven by self-motivated, seeks opportunity for advancement/growth, unafraid to work hands-on, has welding experience, strong attention to detail, comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and committed to following established safety procedures, and works well with others. Equipment Operations Operate Front End Loader Operate Skid Steer Rotary drying plant similar to Asphalt Drying Operations Perform Telehandler duties Perform greasing duties Comfortable with PPE including fall protection; harness and lanyard, etc. Other laborer duties as assigned What do we think would make you successful in this role? Experience operating heavy equipment articulated loader and a skid steer Ability to proactively work with and without direct supervision, self-starter Basic knowledge of heavy equipment routine maintenance, a plus Willingness and ability to perform manual labor (shoveling, lifting etc.) Welding experience is a plus and preferred Ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to repetitively bend, lift and reach Ability to work in varying environmental and weather conditions (dirty environment) Ability to follow specific detailed instructions Additional Qualifications Must have a valid driver's license Ability to lift 50 lbs and move 100 lbs Ability and willingness to work overtime as required Ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders (fixed and portable) Ability and willingness to work overtime or a rotation schedule as required Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening (Hair Follicle and Urinalysis) What we offer: Competitive wages, starting at $20-$25 per hour based on experience 100% Company-paid medical, dental, vision, life and accidental death insurance premiums for employees and family members with minimal out-of-pocket deductibles ($500 per year per individual/ $1000 per family) Robust Retirement Package with Traditional 401K and Roth options - up to 6% company match.
