GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for a construction project. Operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently, performing routine inspections, safely operates machinery like bulldozers, excavators, and loaders to move materials, grade earth, and assist in site preparation. Perform daily maintenance checks, strictly follow safety protocols, and coordinate with crews.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Operation:
Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, and motor graders for excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling.
Maintenance:
Perform daily pre-and-post operation inspections (walk-arounds), check fluid levels, grease equipment, and perform minor maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
Site Preparation:
Clear land, stump/grub, and grade surfaces to precise specifications.
Follow safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel.
Coordination:
Coordinate machine actions with crew members using hand or radio signals.
Material Transport:
Operate dump trucks and other vehicles to move materials around the job site.
Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
1-3 years of proven experience as a heavy equipment operator in a construction environment.
Licensing:
Valid state drivers license; CDL (Class A or B) preferred.
Technical Skill:
Proficiency in maneuvering equipment in tight, hazardous, or complex terrains.
Mechanical Knowledge:
Understanding of engine components and hydraulic systems for troubleshooting.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years' experience, a valid drivers license (or CDL), and strong mechanical aptitude.
High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma).
Experience in specific tasks:
trenching, shoring, or paving.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting:
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather condition.

Local
Shift Work:
May be required to work weekends/holidays and hours other than 8-5.
Other:
Required to wear personal protective equipment and comply with all safety requirements. Employee may be contacted during off duty hours to see if he/she can report to work for emergency conditions.
