An Operating Engineer or Heavy Equipment Operator drives and operates heavy equipment used in quarries, construction sites, landfills, refuse and recycling centers, or ports. Heavy Equipment may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers, excavators, paving equipment and pile drivers.

Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; adjusting and alignments; keeping records.
Job Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and diagnose vehicle condition, identifying worn or damaged parts. Perform preventive maintenance, including component upgrades, corrosion control, and winterization. Repair and replace major assemblies, components, and systems (e.g., power trains, electrical, brakes, steering, hydraulics). Conduct machine shop operations, adjustments, and alignments for various systems. Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle standards by testing engines and safety systems. Maintain detailed records of vehicle services and repairs. Keep shop equipment operational through troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. Participate in ongoing training to stay up-to-date with technical knowledge and regulations. Contribute to the success of the maintenance department by taking ownership of tasks and finding ways to add value. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with tooling, mechanical inspection tools, and technical diagnostics. Strong attention to detail, dependability, thoroughness, and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work independently.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Ability to handle tools, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl for extended periods. Repetitive movements and long periods of standing or walking.
