Full-Time Position Summary The Articulated Truck Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating articulated haul trucks to transport aggregate materials, including gravel, sand, rock, dirt, and other materials throughout a quarry, mine, aggregate facility, or construction site. The operator loads, hauls, and dumps materials at designated locations while following company safety procedures and maintaining the equipment in good operating condition. The successful candidate must be safety-conscious, dependable, and capable of operating heavy equipment in an active industrial environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate articulated haul trucks to transport gravel, rock, sand, dirt, and other aggregate materials.

Haul materials between excavation areas, stockpiles, processing plants, loading areas, and designated dumping locations.

Position the truck properly for loading and unloading operations.

Inspect the truck before each shift and report mechanical problems, damage, leaks, or safety concerns.

Monitor vehicle gauges, warning indicators, fluid levels, tires, and other operating conditions.

Operate the truck on rough, uneven, steep, or changing terrain as required.

Maintain proper control of the vehicle while traveling, loading, hauling, and dumping materials.

Follow designated haul routes, site traffic plans, speed limits, and other operational requirements.

Coordinate with loaders, excavators, plant operators, supervisors, and other personnel.

Maintain safe distances from other vehicles, equipment, workers, stockpiles, and excavation areas.

Load and dump materials according to production requirements and supervisor instructions.

Perform routine operator-level maintenance, including fueling, greasing, cleaning, and basic inspections as assigned.

Keep the operator's cab and equipment clean and orderly.

Complete required daily inspection, production, and equipment-operation records.

Immediately report accidents, equipment damage, unsafe conditions, or environmental incidents.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, site procedures, and required PPE standards.

Assist with general site or aggregate operations when directed by management.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous experience operating articulated haul trucks or similar heavy equipment preferred.

Experience in aggregate, quarry, mining, earthwork, construction, or related industries preferred.

Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in an outdoor industrial environment.

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify equipment problems preferred.

Dependable attendance and willingness to work as part of a team.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Valid driver's license may be required depending on company and site requirements.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and operate heavy equipment for extended periods.

Ability to climb into and out of heavy equipment using ladders and steps.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to perform equipment inspections, including walking around and climbing onto equipment.

Ability to work around dust, noise, vibration, heavy machinery, and uneven terrain.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment The position is primarily performed outdoors at an aggregate quarry, gravel pit, mine, construction site, or material-handling facility. The operator may be exposed to dust, noise, vibration, changing weather conditions, heavy equipment, haul roads, stockpiles, and other industrial hazards. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a fundamental responsibility of the Articulated Truck Operator. The employee must conduct required pre-shift inspections, follow site traffic and haul-road procedures, use required PPE, maintain awareness of surrounding equipment and personnel, and immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment defects.
