Job Description

Summary/Objective The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, and other machinery to assist in various construction activities. This role requires precision, attention to safety protocols, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience:

GED/High School Diploma (preferred) Valid Texas Drivers License Valid personal auto liability insurance 1 Year Experience Operating Various Construction Equipment Work authorization/security clearance required: Must be eligible to work in the United States Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Minimum of 1 year experience operating construction equipment. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Heavy Equipment Operator certification is a plus. Proficiency in operating various types of construction equipment. Strong knowledge of construction site safety protocols. Ability to implement construction site and equipment safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site layouts, and grade plans. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions Ability to physically operate a variety of heavy construction equipment Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation:

Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently for earthmoving, material handling, excavation, and site preparation tasks. Perform routine maintenance checks, including inspecting equipment for mechanical issues, checking fluid levels, and ensuring proper functioning before use.

Site Preparation:

Collaborate with site supervisors to understand project requirements and execute tasks accordingly. Follow site plans, blueprints, and markings to accurately grade surfaces, dig trenches, or move materials.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all company and OSHA safety guidelines, ensuring a hazard-free work environment. Communicate with team members and spotters to ensure safe and coordinated equipment movement.

Maintenance and Reporting:

Report equipment malfunctions, wear and tear, or safety concerns promptly to the maintenance team. Conduct minor equipment adjustments or repairs as needed.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other construction team members to ensure efficient project progress. Assist with general labor tasks when not operating equipment, as needed.

Physical and Mental Requirements and Abilities The role of an Equipment Operator - Construction often requires the ability to work effectively in a moderate to fast-paced outside construction site/environment. This environment typically involves frequent activities, interactions, and tasks that need to be completed within specified timeframes. Additionally, interruptions and unexpected events may occur, which can require flexibility and adaptability while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Equipment Operator - Construction to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently sits and/or stands. The employee may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.



Frequent use of various construction equipment; therefore, the employee will constantly use their fingers, hands, wrist, elbow, and any necessary upper extremities and lower extremities to do so. Employee may occasionally have to twist, pull, or stretch. The employee will frequently read material in print or on a computer or mobile device with various text sizes, shapes, and colors. The employee will have to view and analyze images, pictures, charts and graphics. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with and or without use of prescribed or over the counter optical glasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids. The Equipment Operator - Construction will occasionally travel within and outside of the city limits and may be exposed to various (fair to extreme) weather conditions.
