We're looking for a motivated, hands-on individual to join our team as a Shop Painter. Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will prepare and apply paint, finishes, and protective coatings to various surfaces within a shop environment. They are responsible for surface preparation, material selection, mixing, and applying coatings using multiple techniques and tools. They also maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities Surface Preparation:
This includes cleaning, sanding, and priming surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of the paint or coating. This would be mainly on metal surfaces such as aluminum, steel & titanium.
Material Selection and Mixing:
Must be knowledgeable about different types of primers and coatings, such as enamels and polyurethanes, used in the aviation sector.
Application of Coatings:
Experienced with the use of spray equipment to apply the chosen coatings, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and clean painting equipment, which is crucial for efficient and quality work.
Workspace Management:
Keeping the work area clean, organized, and safe is essential for productivity and preventing accidents.
Project Completion:
Work to complete projects on time and often work with other team members to prioritize the workload.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint mixing, and application methods is essential. Ability to read prints to ensure the proper areas to apply just primer or primer and top coat are met. Attention to
Detail:
Need to pay close attention to detail to ensure a high-quality finish and identify any imperfections.
Physical Stamina:
The job often involves standing for extended periods and having the ability to lift as much as 50 lbs.
