RESPONSIBILITIES
Painters prepare surface for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and masking. These team members apply paint using appropriate finishes and techniques. Painters must have experience working on a swing stage scaffold and must follow supervisor instructions for all painting tasks.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Apply paint, stain, primers, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, buildings and building fixtures.
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, as well as sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly to the surface.
- Apply appropriately requested materials to signs, parking lots, streets and play/dog walk areas.
- Cover surfaces with drop cloths and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, or using water and/or abrasive blasting and smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
- Must have a good understanding of the various chemicals used in paint solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of painting experience preferred.
- Must demonstrateknowledge of painting tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques.
- Must be skilled in the preparation and application of paints, stains, and surface prep materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to move up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Indoor/outdoor environment.
- Must adhere to company no cell phone/texting policy when traveling by car.
