Utility Locator Responsibilities:
- Ability to interpret maps and other documents to help identify underground utilities including telecommunications, electric, power, gas, water, sewer systems and private utilities
- Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark underground utilities.
- Use shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary.
- Prepare diagrams and sketches that show the location of lines.
- Take pictures and document all the information.
- Communicate findings to management at regular intervals.
- Interface with Miss Dig and other outside parties.
- Responsible for site set-up and clean-up
- Perform work in all weather conditions.
- Inspect and maintain job equipment.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Ability to work independently and have good problem solving skills
- Must be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities
- Must have valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Basic knowledge and ability to operate tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, employees, etc.
- Regular and timely attendance is required
- Position is physically active with lifting required (up to 50 pounds)
- Infrequently involves off hour emergency locates
- Comfortable with technology
