NSC Staffing NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Pipefitter with active secret clearance experience for an immediate opportunity supporting shipyard operations in Kittery Maine. This position is ideal for a skilled tradesperson with extensive shipboard pipefitting experience who can work independently, read blueprints, and ensure top-quality installations that meet safety and technical standards.
Position Overview:
The Marine Pipefitter fabricates, installs, removes, modifies, inspects, tests, and repairs marine piping systems aboard U.S. Navy vessels and submarines, in shop environments, and pier-side. Candidates must have experience independently performing marine pipefitting work in accordance with applicable NAVSEA requirements and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate, install, remove, modify, and repair piping and hoses in the shop, aboard vessels, and on pier-side temporary ship-support systems. Remove, fabricate, assemble, and reinstall non-nuclear submarine piping systems, including pressure joints and temporary systems. Fit and prepare piping systems for cutting, welding, or brazing. Work with sanitary, potable-water, cooling, and other shipboard piping systems. Template, fabricate, and install plumbing and high-pressure air-system piping. Manufacture and install parts and assemblies using templates, baselines, centerlines, frame lines, and other reference points. Install, repair, and modify high- and low-pressure water, steam, gas, oil, and other piping systems and fittings. Fabricate and assemble P-1, P-2, and P-3 piping systems as defined by
S9074-AR-GIB-010/278.
Cut, bend, shape, align, fit, and mount piping systems made from various metals aboard U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines. Inspect, test, remove, and reinstall piping, valves, hardware, and hangers. Perform close-tolerance work using precision measuring instruments. Complete piping installation and fit-up work in accordance with applicable workmanship and inspection requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of two years of specialized experience independently performing marine pipefitting work aboard U.S. Navy vessels or in a commercial marine environment. Experience installing, repairing, or modifying high- and low-pressure piping systems. Ability to fabricate and assemble P-1, P-2, and P-3 piping systems made from different metals. Ability to independently cut, bend, shape, align, fit, and mount marine piping systems. Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to perform basic shop-mathematics calculations involving geometry, angles, arcs, and circles. Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, depth gauges, and calipers. Ability to inspect, test, remove, and reinstall piping systems, valves, hardware, and hangers. Knowledge of U.S. Navy piping-installation and fit-up requirements. Ability to work aboard U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines.
