Job Title:
Pipe Fitter/ Plumber Job Description This role focuses on installing, fabricating, modifying, and repairing piping systems in commercial and industrial environments. You will work on a variety of HVAC and process piping projects, including refrigerant, chilled water, steam, gas, condensate, and hot water systems. The position requires strong technical skills in copper brazing and soldering, proficiency with ProPress installation methods, and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints to complete high-quality, code-compliant installations. Responsibilities Install, fit, and assemble refrigerant piping systems for commercial and industrial HVAC applications. Perform copper brazing and soldering on refrigeration, condensate, and chilled water piping systems. Install piping using ProPress and other mechanical joining methods. Fabricate, install, and modify chilled water, condensate, hot water, steam, and gas piping systems. Fit and assist with welded pipe installations, including steam and gas pipe applications. Install and connect pumps, valves, air control devices, regulators, and related mechanical equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, piping schematics, and isometric drawings to plan and execute installations. Perform pressure testing, leak detection, troubleshooting, and system startup activities for piping systems. Utilize hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and pipe fabrication equipment safely and effectively. Ensure all work complies with OSHA safety standards, project specifications, and local building codes. Work safely and efficiently on various commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical construction job sites. Essential Skills At least 2 years of pipefitting experience in commercial, industrial, or HVAC construction environments. Proficiency in copper brazing and copper soldering for refrigeration and mechanical piping. Hands-on experience installing refrigerant piping systems. Working knowledge of chilled water, condensate, steam, hot water, and gas piping systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, piping schematics, and mechanical drawings, including isometric drawings. Familiarity with ProPress installation methods and other mechanical joining techniques. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments and outdoor construction sites. Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA standards. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and pipe fabrication equipment in construction settings. Solid understanding of mechanical construction practices related to commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with welded piping systems, including steam and gas piping. Knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and experience working around boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, and air handling equipment. Familiarity with boiler systems, chiller systems, and general mechanical systems in industrial construction. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Welding certifications are a plus. Experience in mechanical construction, commercial HVAC, industrial HVAC, and industrial construction. Experience with HVAC service or maintenance work related to mechanical systems. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow project specifications and local building codes. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based on various outdoor construction job sites in commercial and industrial settings. You will work in physically demanding environments that may involve exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, and active construction activities. The workday typically involves standing for extended periods, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds while using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and pipe fabrication equipment. You will work around mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, air handling units, and a range of HVAC and piping systems, following all safety protocols and OSHA standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
