Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Piping Checker with a strong piping design background to review models and deliverables for complex industrial projects. This is not a Mechanical Engineer position . The ideal candidate has spent significant time as a Piping Designer or Senior Piping Designer and has developed the technical expertise to review the work of others, identify discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions. This role is less focused on production modeling and more focused on applying years of piping knowledge to ensure designs are accurate, constructible, optimized, and consistent with project requirements. This is a contract to hire opportunity and you can sit in Philadelphia, PA, Creer, SC or Knoxville, TN. Responsibilities Review piping models and deliverables against P&IDs, project specifications, design standards, and established piping practices . Identify discrepancies and work directly with designers to determine appropriate corrections. Evaluate pipe routing for constructability, accessibility, maintainability, efficiency, and piping integrity . Recommend practical routing alternatives and workarounds when design conflicts arise. Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design issues and interferences. Review models for clashes, clearances, equipment access, and constructability concerns. Document comments and markups clearly and verify corrections before final deliverables are issued. Qualifications Extensive experience as a Piping Designer, Senior Piping Designer, Lead Piping Designer, or Piping Checker . Strong knowledge of piping design principles, practices, and terminology. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and translate design intent into practical piping layouts. Strong understanding of pipe routing, equipment interfaces, constructability, accessibility, and maintainability. Experience reviewing the work of other piping designers and coordinating across engineering disciplines. Ability to identify design problems and recommend technically sound, practical solutions. Chemical industry experience strongly preferred ; experience across multiple industrial/process environments is a plus. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Tools Candidates should be comfortable reviewing designs and collaborating using: Navisworks Bluebeam Microsoft Teams Microsoft Office, including basic Excel Current production-level expertise with the latest piping design software is not required . The priority is deep piping knowledge and the ability to effectively review and improve the work produced by the design team. Ideal Background We're looking for someone who has spent years designing piping systems and now brings that experience to the checking side of the process. You should be able to take a P&ID, understand the design intent and applicable piping rules, review the resulting model, identify what doesn't work, and collaborate with the team on a solution that improves the route while protecting the integrity and constructability of the piping system. Chemical and diverse industrial project experience are preferred. Nuclear-specific experience is not a target for this role. .
Pay:
$60.00 - $70.00 per hour
