Job Overview Our client's DMV project team is looking for an experienced commercial welder/pipefitter to join there team. In this role you will install, repair, and maintain steel piping systems supporting cooling towers and chiller units. If you hold current brazing and welding certifications and have hands-on experience fabricating and repairing 6"-12" steel pipe, including brazing, soldering, and groove (grooved-end) piping systems this role is right up your alley! You will be involved in both new installation work and small repair jobs in mechanical/HVAC piping systems. REQUIREMENTS

Current Brazing Certification Current Welding Certification (structural or pipe welding, as applicable) Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a pipe fitter/welder in mechanical, industrial, or HVAC settings Demonstrated experience with 6"-12" steel pipe fabrication and repair Proven experience with brazing and soldering techniques on pipe joints Hands-on experience with groove/grooved-end piping systems and associated tooling Experience working on or around cooling towers, chillers, or related HVAC mechanical equipment Ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematics Working knowledge of applicable plumbing/mechanical codes and safety standards Ability to work at heights, in mechanical rooms, and in confined spaces as needed Valid driver's license (if travel between job sites is required)

PLUS SKILLS

Additional certifications (e.g., ASME, UA, or manufacturer-specific groove piping certifications such as Victaulic) Experience with copper and dissimilar-metal piping systems Prior experience in commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical service environments OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fabricate, install, and repair steel piping (6"-12" diameter) for cooling tower and chiller systems Perform brazing and soldering on copper and steel piping joints per code and manufacturer specifications Install and maintain grooved-end (groove) piping systems, including couplings, fittings, and mechanical joints Weld steel pipe using appropriate processes (e.g., TIG, MIG, or Stick, as required) to meet code and quality standards Diagnose and perform small repairs on existing piping systems, including leaks, corrosion damage, and worn fittings Read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, and mechanical drawings Cut, thread, bevel, and align pipe to ensure proper fit-up prior to joining Pressure test completed piping systems to verify integrity Follow all safety protocols, including confined space, lockout/tagout, hot work permits, and PPE requirements Coordinate with site supervisors and mechanical teams on project scheduling and repair prioritization Maintain tools, welding/brazing equipment, and work areas in safe, organized condition Complete accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and inspection results

Pay:

$45.00 - $49.00 per hour
