Overview Join our dynamic emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, where your vital role is to provide immediate, compassionate care to individuals experiencing medical emergencies. Responsibilities Respond promptly to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions with thorough evaluations of vital signs, physiology, and trauma status. Provide essential pre-hospital care including airway management, basic life support, medication administration, and trauma stabilization. Operate emergency vehicles safely across city streets, navigating efficiently to reach patients quickly while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Perform patient transport with care, ensuring comfort and safety during transfer to hospitals or trauma centers. Conduct detailed patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical history collection, utilizing medical terminology accurately. Assist in specialized emergency responses such as cardiovascular emergencies, pediatric and neonatal resuscitation procedures, and trauma medicine interventions. Maintain clear incident command communication with team members and hospital staff to coordinate effective patient care and resource deployment. Qualifications Valid EMT certification with demonstrated experience in basic life support (BLS) and emergency medicine procedures. Critical care experience, including hospital or trauma center exposure at Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and trauma care protocols. Experience with airway management techniques such as intubation or suctioning; venipuncture skills are a plus. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with incident command systems and emergency response procedures for diverse scenarios including pediatric emergencies and cardiovascular crises. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, prolonged standing, driving emergency vehicles, and other physically demanding tasks required for patient care and transport.
