RSC is searching for Marine Pipefitters to work in Norfolk, VA BAE Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Marine Pipefitter Journeyman to join our ship repair team supporting U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial marine projects. This role is responsible for the removal, repair, fabrication, installation, testing, and targeting of complex marine piping systems aboard naval and commercial vessels while ensuring compliance with NAVSEA, ABS, and other applicable industry standards. The ideal candidate has extensive ship repair experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety. Key Responsibilities Remove, repair, fabricate, install, and test marine piping systems including: Auxiliary Salt Water (ASW) Fire Main Potable Water Hydraulic Systems Compressed Air Fuel Oil Lube Oil Engine Exhaust Additional shipboard piping systems Read and interpret blueprints, piping diagrams, work specifications, and NAVSEA standard items. Measure, template, fabricate, and fit pipe assemblies using proper fit-up techniques. Perform pipe targeting and alignment to ensure strain-free installations. Remove damaged piping and install replacement systems in accordance with engineering drawings. Perform structural boundary testing, tank blanking, pressure testing, and air testing. Complete Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and verify gas-free certifications before beginning work. Prepare work areas for hot work operations and coordinate with Fire Watch personnel. Complete Condition Found Reports (CFRs) and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) documentation.

Operate pipe fabrication equipment including:

Pipe threading machines Pipe bending equipment Drill presses Table saws Brazing equipment Hand and power tools Inspect completed work for quality and compliance before turnover. Provide guidance and mentorship to Pipefitter Improvers and Helpers. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Required Qualifications Minimum 6 years of pipefitting experience , including at least 3 years in a ship repair or maritime environment Comprehensive knowledge of: Marine piping systems Ship repair terminology Ship compartment naming conventions Pipe fabrication and targeting P-73 joint fit-up Silver brazing theory Ability to interpret: Blueprints Isometric drawings NAVSEA Standard Items Military specifications ABS standards Experience using marine pipe fabrication equipment and precision measuring tools. Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, standard and metric measurements. Strong written communication skills for documentation and Condition Found Reports. Required Certifications Candidates must be able to obtain or maintain: MT Braze (B-1) MT Braze (B-2) Preferred Experience Experience supporting: U.S. Navy vessel maintenance Military Sealift Command (MSC) Commercial ship repair Dry dock availabilities Naval modernization projects Safety Requirements Follow OSHA regulations and shipyard safety procedures. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including: Hard Hat Safety Glasses Steel Toe Boots Respirator Safety Harness Hearing Protection Flotation Gear (when required) Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures. Verify gas-free certifications before beginning work. Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area. Work Environment This position is performed in an active shipyard environment aboard naval and commercial vessels.

Pay:

$35.50 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 55.0 per week
