Work Site:
Newport News, Virginia Daily Allowance:
$140 per diem
Assignment Length:
12-month contract with potential for extension or transition into a permanent role
Professional Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of expertise working as a First Class Pipefitter within marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical environments.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing and understanding complex maritime piping blueprints. Showcase hands-on experience working with copper nickel, CRES, and carbon steel piping materials. Utilize Portsmouth or Wach machinery or manual techniques to effectively prepare pipe ends. Help maintain organized job sites by demonstrating expertise in the installation of pipe hangers. Exhibit precision in measuring by accurately reading rulers in both inches and tenths. Support high-quality welding standards by preparing and fitting backing rings correctly. Maintain efficient workflow by utilizing grinders to clean, cut, and break pipe sections. Ensure proper weld preparation by manually creating V-bevels. Contribute to project timelines by fabricating various assemblies and components directly from technical drawings. Demonstrate versatility in pipe bending through the use of hand benders and templates. Ensure structural integrity by accurately fitting welded sockets. Achieve precise connections by fitting brazed joints, both with and without the use of insert rings.
