Lake Apopka Natural Gas District is looking for an experienced Service Technician to join our team! Mechanical aptitude, strong commitment to Safety and knowledge of Natural Gas piping, meters, regulators or other related utility highly desirable.

You MUST live within a 25-mile radius of our Winter Garden location to be eligible for consideration. Under general direction of the Measurement & Regulatory Services Supervisor, our Service Technician performs simple to moderately difficult, skilled work requiring basic judgment in the layout, sizng and installation of gas piping, meters and regulators. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Determine proper layout, sizing and installation of residential gas piping, meters, and relief valves. Install residential meter sets. Install and adjust regulators. Inspect, test and check gas appliances for proper installation, venting and combustion air. Turn on new and established accounts performing appropriate tests for leaks, adjusting pressures and ensuring proper operation of appliances. Assist in installation and programming of meters and electronic read transmitters (ERT's). Troubleshoot and perform meter/ERT maintenance. Perform meter shop duties as required. Operate and maintain combustible gas indicators and other leak detection equipment. Perform leak surveys using leak detection equipment and instruments. Respond to leak calls and make necessary repairs. Investigate, classify and repair leaks on District facilities and piping. Assist other departmental employees as assigned. Deliver materials and appliances to job sites as assigned. Operate department vehicles and perform normal operator maintenance. Maintain tools and equipment. Responsible for inventory items obtained from stock or carried in vehicle. Complete all necessary paperwork and reports. Attend Training Sessions assigned by supervisor. Perform other duties as required by supervisor. Knowledge, Education and Skill Requirements Requires graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Requires 1 - 2 years appropriate gas or other utility experience. Must be able to learn and perform procedures to meet departmental standards. Must have basic computer skills with a working knowledge of different types of software programs, and ability to learn additional programs as needed.

Pay:

$20.87 - $33.08 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
