General Plumber Location:
Useppa Island, Florida Employment Type:
Full-Time Pay range: $28 - $32 an hour
Position Overview:
  • Useppa Island is seeking an experienced, dependable General Plumber to perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing and water/sewer systems throughout the island's residential and common-area properties.
  • This position is ideal for a highly skilled, hands-on plumber who is comfortable working independently and can diagnose and resolve a wide variety of plumbing issues without relying on outside contractors for routine work.
  • Because this is a private island environment, the successful candidate must be resourceful, organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Experience working in coastal or island environments is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Plumbing Installation & Repair
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain water supply piping, sewer piping, drainage systems, valves, fixtures, and plumbing equipment.
  • Perform rough-in and finish plumbing for renovations, repairs, and new installations.
  • Install and repair toilets, sinks, faucets, showers, tubs, hose bibs, water heaters, pumps, valves, and other plumbing fixtures and equipment.
  • Perform pipe fitting, cutting, threading, soldering, brazing, gluing, crimping, and other appropriate joining methods.
  • Repair and replace damaged, leaking, corroded, or deteriorated piping.
  • Install and maintain shutoff valves, pressure-reducing valves, check valves, backflow devices, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot low water pressure, leaks, clogs, drainage problems, sewer backups, and other plumbing issues. Water & Sewer Systems
  • Maintain and repair domestic water distribution systems throughout the island.
  • Maintain and repair sewer and wastewater piping and associated components.
  • Locate and diagnose water and sewer line problems.
  • Perform line repairs, replacements, and modifications as required.
  • Inspect piping systems for leaks, corrosion, deterioration, and potential failures.
  • Assist with pumps, lift stations, sump systems, and related equipment where applicable.
  • Monitor water pressure, flow, and system performance.
  • Respond to water or sewer emergencies and minimize service interruptions.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of professional plumbing experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with water supply and distribution systems.
  • Strong experience with sewer, drainage, and wastewater systems.
  • Experience with pipe fitting, pipe installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand plumbing plans, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Ability to safely operate common plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Experience with pumps, water systems, lift stations, or similar equipment is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
  • This is a hands-on maintenance position serving a private island community. The employee will work throughout Useppa Island and may interact with residents, property owners, guests, vendors, and contractors.
  • The position requires a high degree of reliability and professionalism because plumbing and water/sewer systems are essential to the operation of the island.
