Overview Join our dynamic team as a JVC Plumbing - Plumbers Assistant/Apprentice and kick-start your career in the skilled trades! This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside an experienced, soon to be master plumber. You will develop essential skills in plumbing which include pipe management, tool usage, and you will see what its like to work under someone who built their business from the ground up! JVC plumbing is an established plumbing company in the New Orleans area. In being such, you will have opportunities to meet new people in the trade, and potential future customers if you are looking to open your own business one day. Duties Assist lead plumbers with installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems Prepare work areas by organizing tools, materials, and equipment such as hand tools, power tools, and pipe threading machines Support in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project requirements Help with pipe fitting, pipe threading, and basic welding tasks under supervision Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and handling tools responsibly Participate in site inspections, measurements, and basic math calculations necessary for accurate installations Support in the assembly of plumbing fixtures and HVAC components during remodeling or maintenance projects Qualifications Prior experience or familiarity with construction sites or handyman work is preferred but not required Basic knowledge of construction plumbing, carpentry, or mechanical systems is a plus Ability to read simple schematics and blueprints; willingness to learn more advanced technical drawings Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic welding equipment safely Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning plumbing techniques and systems Good physical condition with the ability to stand, bend, lift heavy objects, and work at heights as needed Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to plumbing layouts Truck preferred, car or some sort of transport required. This paid apprenticeship position is designed to help you grow your skills while contributing meaningfully to our projects.
