Job Description
Alexander Mechanical is a growing family-owned company seeking a motivated, reliable, and experienced Plumbing Technician to join our plumbing team. This position plays a critical role in installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and residential plumbing systems while providing exceptional customer service and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic, with the knowledge and experience necessary to independently perform commercial/new constriction plumbing and installation work. The Plumbing Technician will be responsible for diagnosing plumbing issues, completing quality repairs and installations, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring customer plumbing systems operate safely and efficiently. Essential Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and new construction plumbing systems. Diagnose plumbing system issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Install, repair, and replace piping, fixtures, valves, drains, pumps, water heaters, and other plumbing components. Perform plumbing service calls independently and efficiently. Read and interpret plumbing plans, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Measure, cut, thread, assemble, and secure various types of piping and plumbing materials. Test plumbing systems to identify leaks, pressure issues, drainage problems, and other system deficiencies. Perform preventative maintenance and recommend repairs or improvements when appropriate. Accurately document service work, equipment conditions, materials used, and customer recommendations. Complete customer paperwork, service reports, and electronic documentation in a timely manner. Communicate professionally with customers regarding system conditions, repair options, and recommendations. Maintain positive customer relationships and represent Alexander Mechanical in a professional manner. Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and technology in good working condition. Assist with training and development of Plumbing Apprentices and less experienced team members. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable plumbing codes and regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform other plumbing and mechanical duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of plumbing experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of commercial and new construction plumbing systems, components, and installation practices. Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems. Proficiency with plumbing hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret plumbing plans, drawings, and specifications. Strong knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, safety requirements, and industry standards. Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Plumbing license or applicable trade credentials preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, rooftops, and confined spaces as needed. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and work overhead for extended periods. Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to safely use hand and power tools and perform physically demanding plumbing and mechanical tasks.
