Job Title:
Skilled Labor - Plumbing and Pipefitting Job Description This role focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems that carry water, gas, and waste in residential and commercial settings. You will diagnose issues such as leaks or clogs, replace or repair components, and ensure all work complies with applicable building codes and safety standards. The position requires proficiency with specialized tools, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and a commitment to working efficiently to keep plumbing and piping systems functioning reliably. Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain piping systems for water, gas, and waste in residential and commercial properties. Diagnose issues such as leaks, clogs, and other system malfunctions, and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Perform pipe installation, including cutting, fitting, and securing PVC, copper, and PEX piping according to specifications. Use specialized plumbing and pipefitting tools to complete installation, repair, and troubleshooting tasks safely and accurately. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and piping diagrams to plan and execute work in alignment with project requirements. Install, maintain, and repair sewer systems, including performing sewer jetting and related maintenance activities. Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, safety standards, and company procedures. Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment at job sites to support efficient workflow. Perform light carpentry tasks as needed to access, install, or repair piping systems. Work from heights, ladders, and in small crawl spaces to access piping and plumbing components. Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure timely project completion. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with plumbing and pipefitting installation, repair, and maintenance. Proficiency in pipe installation, including cutting, fitting, and assembling various types of piping. Ability to troubleshoot plumbing and piping issues, including leaks, clogs, and system performance problems. Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and piping diagrams. Experience working with sewer systems and performing sewer jetting. Demonstrated ability to work with PVC, copper, and PEX piping materials. Experience cutting pipe accurately and safely. Light carpentry experience to support installation and repair work. Ability to load and unload materials safely and efficiently. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Comfort working from heights and in small crawl spaces. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with building codes and safety standards related to plumbing and piping systems. Experience working on residential and commercial construction projects. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a field crew on active construction sites. Work Environment This is a full-time, day-shift role with typical hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. You will primarily work outdoors on new construction sites, where conditions can vary with the weather and project stage. The position involves physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and accessing small crawl spaces. You will use a variety of plumbing and pipefitting tools and equipment while collaborating with other trades and construction personnel in an active job site environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheektowaga, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
