Approximately 75% local / 25% out-of-town, with additional incentives for out-of-town work Job Overview We are seeking an experienced licensed Journeyman Plumber to join our team in a Plumbing Lead position. This role is intended for someone who is capable of taking the lead on plumbing projects, working effectively with a crew, communicating well with management, and helping keep projects moving from start to finish. Responsibilities Must be a licensed Journeyman Plumber. Must have experience in both residential and commercial plumbing. Work independently, make sound field decisions, and communicate with management when questions or unexpected situations arise. Use available resources - including plumbing code, blueprints, manufacturers' specifications, inspectors, suppliers, and management - to solve jobsite issues. Collaborate closely with master plumbers, commercial plumbers, and field technicians to evaluate project requirements and scope. Maintain a strong understanding of DWV systems, venting, water distribution systems, fixture installation, and plumbing rough-in. Read and understand plumbing drawings, blueprints, specifications, and job scopes. Lay out plumbing systems and determine proper pipe sizing, elevations, slopes, fixture locations, and routing. Understand applicable plumbing codes and ensure work is completed to code and ready for inspection. Lead and direct plumbers, apprentices, and helpers on the jobsite. Delegates work efficiently and make sure crew members understand the day's goals and expectations. Take ownership of the plumbing scope and help plan the next steps of the project, while communicating with management whenever there are questions, changes, or decisions that need to be made. Keep projects moving and communicate early when something may affect the schedule, budget, material needs, or scope of work. Coordinate plumbing work with general contractors, project managers, customers, and other trades on site. Identify conflicts with structural, electrical, HVAC, or other building systems before they become larger problems. Determine material and equipment needs and communicate material orders ahead of time to help prevent unnecessary downtime. Perform quality-control checks on work completed by the crew. Pressure test, troubleshoot, and prepare plumbing systems for inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite. Properly document changes, additional work, unforeseen conditions, and problems encountered in the field. Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, suppliers, management, and other trades. Troubleshoot existing plumbing systems and develop practical solutions when field conditions differ from the plans. Maintain company tools, equipment, and materials and help prevent unnecessary material waste. Be comfortable traveling approximately 25% of the time for out-of-town projects. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. What success looks like We're looking for someone who can be handed a set of plans and a scope of work and confidently help take the plumbing portion of the project from layout and rough-in through testing, inspection, and finish. The ideal candidate should be able to think ahead, manage their time and the crew's time effectively, recognize potential problems early, and communicate when clarification or direction is needed before moving forward. This is a leadership position, so we're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, helps hold the crew to a high standard, communicates well, and takes responsibility for helping projects get completed correctly, efficiently, and professionally. Compensation & Benefits $35/hour full-time position. Approximately 75% local work and 25% out-of-town travel. Additional incentives are provided for out-of-town work.
