Pay:
The starting rate within the listed range is based on relevant mechanical and pump experience. Position Overview The Pump Technician I is an entry-level position focused on developing essential mechanical and technical skills. This employee assists with basic pump inspections, preventive maintenance, equipment assembly, and service work while receiving hands-on training from experienced technicians. Work is performed in both shop and field environments. Pump Technician I employees may travel to customer sites to assist with pump deliveries, installations, maintenance, and repairs. This position is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to build a career working with pumps and industrial equipment. Work Schedule and Travel Regular schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Participation in the after-hours on-call rotation may be required. Travel to customer job sites is required as needed. Company tools, vehicles, and other necessary resources are provided for authorized work. Key Responsibilities Safety and Compliance Actively support and participate in the company's safety culture. Follow all PPE, Lockout/Tagout, equipment, and tool-safety requirements. Identify and report unsafe activities or conditions to a supervisor or Human Resources. Perform assigned responsibilities safely, efficiently, and effectively. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace. Pump Maintenance and Technical Support Assist with basic pump and equipment inspections. Perform routine maintenance, including oil and filter changes and greasing bearings. Assist experienced technicians with diagnosing and repairing pumps and related equipment. Help assemble pumps and related units according to manufacturer specifications. Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance procedures. Help test equipment to confirm it meets manufacturer performance specifications. Learn the safe operation of cordless, pneumatic, and other shop tools. Assist with securing pump systems, hoses, and related equipment. Participate in hands-on training and continuous improvement activities. Inventory and Equipment Support Assist with receiving and inspecting pumps, filters, hoses, tools, and other equipment. Organize and stock parts, tools, and consumable supplies. Help monitor stock levels and notify the appropriate employee when items need to be ordered. Properly clean, organize, and store tools and equipment after use. Field Service and Customer Support Assist with loading, securing, delivering, and installing pumps at customer locations. Support experienced technicians during field inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management. Help address basic customer questions and refer technical concerns to an experienced technician. Support a positive customer experience at each job site. Documentation Complete service reports, inspection forms, and other required documentation accurately and on time. Use company tablets, computers, or other electronic systems to maintain service records. Ensure work performed, equipment conditions, and identified concerns are properly documented. Qualifications and Experience Previous mechanical experience is preferred but not required. Pump experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided. Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning pump systems. Ability to safely use or learn to use hand, cordless, pneumatic, and shop tools. Ability to use a calculator, tablet, tape measure, and maps or navigation applications. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Basic computer literacy is preferred. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Safety-focused, dependable, and able to work as part of a team. Customer-service-oriented with effective communication skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be at least 21 years old. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Ability to commute to the Massillon, Ohio location. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins when required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Ability to perform physically strenuous tasks throughout the workday. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, stand, and work around industrial equipment. Ability to work in shop, outdoor, and customer job-site environments. Ability to work in varying weather and environmental conditions. Career Growth and Advancement Pump Technician I employees develop a strong foundation in pump service, workplace safety, equipment maintenance, documentation, and tool use. Successful performance and continued skill development may prepare employees for advancement to Pump Technician II, where they can independently perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and field service. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, pump employees must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and are subject to random testing.
