Rigger - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA Job Description We are seeking a skilled Rigging Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and repairing rigging both in the shop and on-site with minimal supervision. This role involves ensuring the alignment and anchoring of machinery, attaching loads, and controlling the movement of heavy equipment, all while ensuring the rigging plan is safe before execution. Responsibilities Set up and repair rigging in the shop and on site with minimal supervision. Accomplish the alignment and anchoring of machinery. Attach loads and control the movement of heavy equipment. Ensure the rigging plan is safe prior to execution. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of previous shipyard or Navy experience. Proficient in rigging, ship repair, and using tools like chain falls & come-alongs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and at heights of 20 feet or more. Capable of routine bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching for 1-12 hours per day. Enduring noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather. Able to lift and carry 1-75 lbs throughout the day. Must be able to safely wear a respirator when needed. Work Environment Work will occur at various shipyards including NASSCO, BAE, Naval Base, CMSD, and NBSD. The position is for the 1st shift from 6 am - 2:30 pm, with flexibility for overtime if needed, including 10-hour days if required. The environment may include noise, fumes, dust, and varying weather conditions. The dress code includes safety gear, and the company offers reimbursement for half the cost of a bus pass and prescription safety glasses. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
