Role:
Eastport Spar & Rigging is looking for a skilled Rigging Technician to join our team in Shady Side, MD. If you have a passion for the water and a sharp eye for detail, this is your chance to work hands-on with some of the finest rigging in the industry. Come be part of a crew that takes pride in keeping sailors safe and boats performing at their best.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, install, and maintain standing and running rigging on sailboats and vessels Perform mast stepping, unstepping, and tuning for optimal sail performance Fabricate and replace wire rope, rod rigging, and associated hardware Conduct rigging assessments and provide recommendations for repair or replacement Operate mast cranes, forklifts, and other yard equipment safely Collaborate with customers to understand rigging needs and deliver quality results Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
Requirements:
Prior experience in marine rigging, boatyard work, or a related trade Working knowledge of sailboat rigging systems, hardware, and terminology Ability to work at heights and comfort climbing masts Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical, hands-on labor in varying weather conditions Valid driver's license required; forklift certification a plus Reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
