Job Description

$32-$40/hour + $100/day Per Diem Advanced Steel Welding & Mechanical, LLC is immediately hiring experienced Structural Ironworkers, Riggers, and Welder/Ironworkers for the St. Carlo Acutis Middle School project in Grand Forks, North Dakota , with McGough serving as the General Contractor. We are looking for dependable, safety-minded tradespeople who are comfortable working as part of a multi-skilled structural steel erection crew. We prefer employees who can perform more than one function, including rigging, connecting, welding, bolt-up, equipment operation, and general steel erection activities. Pay & Schedule $32.00-$40.00 per hour , based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated ability $100/day per diem for eligible employees Full-time Overtime may be available or required based on project needs 2-3 employees needed to start the week of August 17, 2026 Remaining positions anticipated to start the week of August 24, 2026 Steel delivery begins August 21 Structural steel erection begins August 24 Positions We Are Filling We are currently hiring approximately five crew members, including: Rigger / Ironworkers Welder / Ironworkers Ironworker Helper / Structural Steel Laborer Applicants with experience in multiple areas will receive priority consideration. Job Responsibilities Depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications, responsibilities may include: Structural steel erection Connecting structural steel Rigging structural steel and miscellaneous metals Crane signaling Bolt-up and field connections Structural and field welding Operating telehandlers and forklifts Working from boom lifts and aerial lifts Installing joists and metal decking Installing stairs, railings, lintels, and miscellaneous metals Reading structural and erection drawings Layout and field measuring Loading, unloading, and staging structural steel Assisting other crew members as needed Maintaining tools, equipment, and organized work areas Following all site-specific safety requirements Employees must be willing to perform multiple duties within their training, certifications, and qualifications. Certifications McGough requires appropriate certification for employees performing certain work on this project. Employees performing the following activities must have applicable current certification or qualification: Rigging Forklift / Telehandler operation Welding Applicants must be prepared to provide documentation of applicable certifications before performing those duties. Candidates with certifications in multiple areas are strongly preferred. Additional valuable training and certifications include OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, Signal Person, Boom Lift/Aerial Lift, Fall Protection, and First Aid/CPR. Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidates will have experience with structural steel erection, rigging, connecting, bolt-up, structural welding, crane operations, telehandlers, aerial lifts, and working safely at heights. Welding experience is strongly preferred for all positions. We are particularly interested in candidates who can rig, weld, connect, and operate equipment , allowing them to work in multiple areas as project needs change. Ironworker Helper Candidates We are willing to consider a motivated individual with less structural steel experience for an Ironworker Helper / Structural Steel Laborer position. Candidates with welding-school training, welding experience, construction experience, mechanical aptitude, or experience using construction tools and equipment are encouraged to apply. This is intended to be a developmental structural steel position—not simply a cleanup labor position. The right candidate will have the opportunity to learn additional aspects of structural steel erection and become a more versatile member of the crew.
