PRIMARY PURPOSE

Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman. Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities. Attaches rigging and provides directional guidance to equipment operator in removing and installing plant equipment and structures in support of plant construction and maintenance activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties and activities as directed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

A. Evaluates scope of assigned tasks and performs general work planning and preparation activities. 1. Reads work orders, work permits, and safety instructions to determine location of work, job instructions, safety requirements, hazard information, evacuation plan, etc. 2. Researches charts and equipment specifications to identify lifting equipment requirements. 3. Determines requirements for special protective equipment and withdraws equipment from storage. B. Sets up work site, including transporting tools, materials, and equipment to site. 1. Inspects rigging equipment for wear, damage, or deterioration. 2. Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment from vehicle manually. 3. Carries materials, tools, and equipment to and from work locations. 4. Prepares load drop spot, including moving and positioning matting, chock blocks, cross ties, pallets, etc. 5. Lifts materials, tools, and equipment into work position, including pulling up with rope. 6. Coordinates with operating personnel regarding permits to enter unit and initiate rigging or lifting activities. 7. Places warning signs, barriers, warning tape, or flags at work site. 8. Deactivates and locks out switchgear by properly tagging and securing with a padlock. C. Attaches rigging and participates in the movement and positioning of materials, equipment, parts, subassemblies, or completed assemblies into position using air tugger. 1. Attaches slings, chokers, spreader bars, etc., to material to be moved. 2. Directs lifting equipment operator utilizing hand signals. 3. Stabilizes and controls load by holding tag line during lift or movement of load. 4. Attaches rigging and manually moves materials, equipment, parts, subassemblies, or completed assemblies into position using hoists, chainfalls, snatch blocks, or come-along. 5. Attaches rigging and moves materials, equipment, parts, subassemblies, or completed assemblies into position using air tugger. D. Performs general housekeeping duties, including removing and disposing of scrap materials and cleaning up work areas. E. Participates in safety meetings.

Spatial visualization to safely direct equipment operator in the movement and lifting of materials, equipment, and structures in congested plant areas. C.

Mathematical Capabilities:

1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals when calculating lifting weights, boom angles, and load limitations. D.

1. Ability to read vehicles dials and gauges while operating equipment. 2. Ability to read equipment lifting specifications charts. 3. Ability to see and recognize traffic signs and signals. 4. Ability to see and comprehend directional hand signals. 5. Spatial visualization to safely operate lifting equipment in congested plant areas. E.

Auditory Capabilities:

1. Ability to hear plant emergency horns or sirens. 2. Ability to tolerate working in a very loud noise intensity work environment when working around plant processing equipment. F.

Physical Capabilities:

1. Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds when transporting 2-ton chainfalls to and from work site. 2. Ability to lift and position materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds when lifting and positioning 3-ton chain hoist. 3. Ability to climb ladders and stairs when climbing scaffolding, columns, vessels, and tanks. 4. Ability to work above ground on scaffolds and platforms and from personnel baskets and manlifts when attaching rigging and participating in the movement and positioning of materials, equipment, and structures. 5. Ability to work while reaching overhead when attaching rigging and holding tag line during lift of materials and equipment. 6. Ability to work in standing position for extended periods of time when setting up work site, attaching rigging, and participating in the movement and positioning of materials, equipment, and structures. 7. Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel when attaching rigging to materials, equipment, and structures. 8. Ability to function under varying temperature and weather conditions when working outside. 9. Ability to function under high temperature conditions when working around plant processing areas. 10. Ability to tolerate exposure to nontoxic irritating fumes generated by Plant production processes. 11. Finger dexterity, and hand and arm coordination to attach rigging to Materials, equipment, and structures. 12. Eye, hand, and arm coordination to guide materials, equipment, and structures with tag line, and to direct movement and lifting of materials, equipment, and structures by signaling equipment operator. 13. Employee must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and other structurally sound objects that will support their total body weight. (

Note:

Safety Harnesses provided by the Company have a weight limitation not to exceed 310 pounds (body weight and tools). The weight restrictions for ladders begin at 250 pounds. Some ladders in use by the company have a 300-pound weight restriction.) G.

Other Requirements:

1. Ability to work overtime hours for extended periods of time to accommodate plant construction and maintenance schedules. H. Any other task that may be assigned.
