This position serves as the primary spotter and rigging specialist, ensuring every lift is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Jones Logistics safety standards and customer requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with crane operators, truck drivers, dispatch, and yard personnel to safely load, unload, stage, inspect, and secure high-value customer equipment. Safety, communication, and attention to detail are essential to success in this role. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Rigging Operations Inspect generators, lifting points, spreader bars, rigging hardware, and lifting accessories before each lift. Properly attach, position, and remove rigging equipment. Verify load weight and lifting configuration prior to movement. Ensure all rigging equipment is properly rated for the intended lift. Inspect slings, chains, shackles, hooks, and lifting devices before use. Remove damaged or defective rigging equipment from service immediately. Spotting & Load Guidance Serve as the designated spotter during all lifting operations. Maintain continuous visual contact with the crane operator. Direct equipment movement using approved hand signals and radio communication. Ensure personnel remain clear of suspended loads. Establish and maintain exclusion zones around lifting operations. Stop operations immediately whenever unsafe conditions exist. Loading & Unloading Assist with loading and unloading oversized generators. Verify trailer positioning before loading begins. Confirm equipment placement on trailers meets customer specifications. Assist with blocking, cribbing, and securing loads as directed. Verify product identification before movement. Yard Operations Assist with yard organization and staging. Inspect products for shipping damage. Maintain clean work areas. Assist drivers entering and exiting loading zones. Coordinate movements with dispatch and supervision. Assist with inventory verification when needed. Safety Responsibilities Follow all OSHA regulations and Jones Logistics safety policies. Wear required PPE at all times. Conduct pre-use inspections of rigging equipment. Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and equipment damage. Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training. Refuse any lift that cannot be completed safely. Administrative Responsibilities Complete rigging inspection documentation. Report damaged lifting equipment. Assist with inventory and load documentation. Maintain accurate inspection records. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum two (2) years of industrial, construction, manufacturing, logistics, or heavy equipment experience. Experience working around cranes, forklifts, or heavy equipment. Ability to safely work around suspended loads. Ability to read load tags and equipment identification. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Rigging certification (NCCER, NCCCO Rigger Level I/II, or equivalent). Physical Requirements The employee must regularly: Lift up to 75 pounds. Frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach. Walk several miles throughout the yard during a shift. Stand for extended periods. Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Wear required PPE, including hard hat, high-visibility vest, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear. Work Environment Outdoor industrial yard. Heavy truck traffic. Large moving equipment. Exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and dust. Noise requiring hearing protection. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough understanding of basic rigging principles. Ability to inspect lifting hardware for defects. Knowledge of load balance and center of gravity. Strong situational awareness. Excellent communication using hand signals and two-way radios.
