We are seeking an experienced and motivated Concrete Restoration & Waterproofing Technician to join our team. This position is specifically focused on commercial concrete restoration, structural repair, and waterproofing systems on existing buildings and structures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing concrete demolition and repair, reinforcing steel preparation, structural patching, waterproofing, traffic coatings, sealants, expansion joint work, and related restoration activities. Experience with hot-applied waterproofing systems is a plus. Work may include parking garages, parking decks, balconies, elevated slabs, exterior walls, pool decks, plazas, planters, and other concrete structures. Candidates should be comfortable working in an active construction environment, using power tools and specialized restoration equipment, working from lifts or scaffolding when required, and following project specifications and manufacturer installation requirements. Responsibilities Perform concrete restoration and structural repair, including removal of deteriorated or delaminated concrete, saw cutting, chipping, surface preparation, and installation of repair materials. Expose, clean, and prepare reinforcing steel affected by corrosion and install supplemental reinforcing steel or dowels when required. Install cementitious and polymer-modified concrete repair materials for horizontal, vertical, and overhead repairs. Perform concrete crack repairs using epoxy injection, routing and sealing, polyurethane injection, or other specified repair methods. Prepare concrete substrates by grinding, shot blasting, pressure washing, scarifying, or other mechanical preparation methods. Install vehicular and pedestrian waterproofing and traffic coating systems, including primers, base coats, intermediate coats, aggregate broadcasts, and wear/top coats. Install liquid-applied, sheet-applied, and hot-applied waterproofing membrane systems on parking decks, plazas, planters, balconies, elevated slabs, and other concrete surfaces. Perform waterproofing detailing at drains, penetrations, transitions, curbs, walls, joints, terminations, and other critical locations. Install protection board, drainage mat, flashing, reinforcement, and other components associated with waterproofing assemblies. Install joint sealants, backer rod, expansion joint systems, control joint sealants, and related waterproofing components. Perform concrete forming, placement, finishing, and restoration associated with structural repairs and topping slabs. Install reinforcing steel, dowels, anchors, and epoxy anchoring systems as required by project documents. Perform localized masonry, stucco, and concrete surface repairs associated with restoration work. Properly mix and apply repair mortars, epoxies, urethanes, coatings, sealants, waterproofing products, and other specialty restoration materials. Read and understand project plans, repair details, specifications, manufacturer data sheets, and installation requirements. Operate grinders, chipping hammers, demolition hammers, concrete saws, mixers, drills, pressure washers, pumps, and other concrete restoration equipment. Maintain clean and properly prepared work areas to ensure successful adhesion and installation of restoration and waterproofing systems. Follow all OSHA requirements and company safety procedures, including requirements for fall protection, scaffolding, aerial lifts, respirators, silica exposure, hot-applied waterproofing operations, and personal protective equipment. Work closely with foremen, superintendents, and other technicians to maintain production schedules and quality standards. Identify deteriorated concrete, cracks, water intrusion, corrosion, failed waterproofing, and other conditions encountered during restoration work and report them to project supervision. Maintain a high level of workmanship and attention to detail throughout all phases of the restoration process. Experience & Qualifications Previous experience in commercial concrete restoration, structural concrete repair, or waterproofing is strongly preferred. Experience performing concrete demolition, spall repair, patching, forming, concrete placement, and finishing. Experience with vertical, overhead, and horizontal concrete repairs. Knowledge of reinforcing steel preparation, corrosion treatment, doweling, anchoring, and supplemental reinforcing installation. Experience installing traffic coatings, waterproofing membranes, deck coatings, sealants, and expansion joint systems is highly desirable. Experience with hot-applied waterproofing membrane systems is a plus, including substrate preparation, primers, membrane heating and application, flashing/details, protection courses, and drainage components. Familiarity with concrete repair mortars, epoxies, polyurethane products, cementitious waterproofing, urethane coatings, and other specialty restoration materials. Experience with manufacturers and systems commonly used in the restoration industry, including Sika, Tremco, American Hydrotech, Master Builders Solutions, Euclid, and similar manufacturers, is a plus. Ability to operate grinders, chipping hammers, concrete saws, drills, mixers, pressure washers, and other restoration equipment safely. Ability to read construction drawings, repair details, specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions. Knowledge of proper concrete surface preparation and the importance of achieving the required substrate profile prior to repairs, coatings, or waterproofing installation. Ability to work from scaffolding, swing stages, aerial lifts, ladders, and elevated work areas when required. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials and equipment, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working outdoors. Understanding of construction safety requirements, including fall protection, silica control, PPE, and safe operation of power tools and equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality restoration work. Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and follow direction from project foremen and superintendents.
