Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Steel Detailer / Field Drafter for a full-time, in-house position. In this role, you will visit residential job sites to pull accurate field dimensions, coordinate with architectural plans, and generate clean, fabrication-ready shop drawings using AutoCAD. Key Responsibilities Travel to local residential job sites to pull precise field measurements for structural steel framing, beams, columns, and custom components. Convert architectural/structural design prints and raw field dimensions into accurate 2D/3D fabrication and erection drawings in AutoCAD. Calculate cut lengths, clearances, hole layouts, and connection details. Identify field discrepancies or site clashes early and coordinate adjustments with the shop and field teams. Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and cut sheets for shop fabrication.
Qualifications & Requirements AutoCAD Proficiency:
Experience drafting structural steel or miscellaneous metals in AutoCAD.
Math & Measurement Skills:
Proficient with a standard tape measure with strong fraction arithmetic (adding/subtracting fractions down to 1/16" quickly and accurately).
Field Measurement Experience:
Comfortable navigating active residential construction sites to take independent, reliable dimensions.
Blueprint Literacy:
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction drawings.
Valid Driver's License:
Must possess a clean, valid driver's license with reliable transportation for local site visits.
Work Location:
In-house position at our facility (with local field travel as required).
Compensation & Benefits Employment Type:
Full-time, In-House Pay:
60-70K with room for growth

$25.90 - $31.20 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
