 Performance-Based Bonuses About the Role TAF Construction is seeking a true blue-collar employee to join our steel erection crews on high-profile pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) projects across the state. This is not a sit-behind-a-desk construction job. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in building things, isn't afraid of hard work, and wants to become one of the best steel erectors in the industry. As a Steel Erector with TAF Construction, you will be responsible for helping safely and efficiently erect pre-engineered metal buildings from the ground up. You will work alongside experienced Crew Leads and other steel erectors to install structural steel, roof systems, wall panels, trim, and other building components while maintaining TAF's standards for Safety, Quality, and Production. You will be expected to show up every day ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to do whatever is necessary to help the crew succeed. Some days will involve setting steel, some will involve installing panels, and others may involve material handling, cleanup, equipment operation, or solving problems in the field. Key Responsibilities Assist with the erection and installation of pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMBs), including structural steel, secondary framing, roof panels, wall panels, trim, insulation, and other building components. Work directly under the direction of the Crew Lead to safely and efficiently complete each phase of the building process. Read and follow erection drawings, construction plans, details, and instructions to ensure building components are installed correctly. Safely use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, ladders, lifts, and other construction equipment necessary to complete the job. Assist with rigging, connecting, setting, and securing steel members and other building components. Assist in unloading, staging, organizing, and moving materials throughout the job site. Work safely from ladders, lifts, roofs, structural steel, and other elevated work areas while following all required fall-protection procedures. Perform physically demanding work, including lifting 75+ lbs, climbing, bending, standing, carrying materials, and working outdoors in changing weather conditions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project. Inspect tools, equipment, rigging, and personal protective equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe equipment immediately. Communicate missing materials, damaged components, installation problems, safety concerns, or other job-site issues to the Crew Lead as soon as they are identified. Follow all TAF Construction safety policies and procedures and actively contribute to our goal of maintaining zero safety incidents. Work efficiently while maintaining quality standards and helping the crew meet or exceed daily production goals. Travel to different job sites throughout Central Utah and other areas of the state as projects require. Represent TAF Construction professionally when interacting with general contractors, subcontractors, customers, suppliers, and other workers on the job site. Qualifications Previous experience in steel erection, PEMB installation, commercial construction, framing, roofing, or another construction trade is preferred but not required for the right person. Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings, structural steel, metal roofing, wall panels, rigging, or construction equipment is a major plus. Ability and willingness to safely work at heights and in physically demanding environments. Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods of time. Ability to read a tape measure and learn to read construction drawings and erection plans. Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools, with the ability and willingness to learn new tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions from Crew Leads and communicate clearly with other members of the crew. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn are required. Must be willing to work long days and extended hours when necessary to keep projects on schedule. Must be willing to travel between job sites as required. Reliable transportation to designated meeting locations or job sites is required. Previous experience operating lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, or other construction equipment is a plus. OSHA, fall protection, rigging, or other relevant construction certifications are a plus. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is boots-tight, bags-on, steel-slinging, and ready to work. You don't need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be willing to learn, take directions, work hard, and hold yourself and the people around you to a high standard.
