Job Title:
Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description The Sheet Metal mechanic installs ductwork and related HVAC sheet metal components on a large construction site. This role leads field installation activities for square and spiral duct systems, roof top fans, exhaust fans, and associated sheet metal work, ensuring that all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with blueprints and project specifications. Responsibilities Install square and spiral ductwork, including roof top fans, exhaust fans, and associated sheet metal components. Coordinate and perform HVAC installation tasks, including ductwork layout, fitting, and assembly. Interpret and work from blueprints and construction drawings to plan and execute duct and sheet metal installations. Oversee cut sheets, fabrication, and installation of sheet metal components to meet project requirements. Ensure all duct installation and sheet metal work adheres to safety standards, codes, and site regulations. Organize daily work activities, assign tasks to team members, and monitor progress to meet project timelines. Inspect completed installations for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications. Maintain full use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and verify that crew members do the same. Collaborate with site personnel and other trades to coordinate work in an active construction environment. Essential Skills 5-10 years of experience in sheet metal, ductwork, and HVAC installation. Strong hands-on experience with duct installation, including square and spiral ductwork. Proficiency in sheet metal installation and fabrication, including cut sheets and field fitting. Ability to install roof top fans, exhaust fans, and related HVAC equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings accurately. Experience working as an HVAC Mechanic, Sheet Metal Mechanic, or Tin Knocker. OSHA 30 certification. SST 10 certification. Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate installation work on construction sites. Commitment to following safety procedures and site regulations at all times. Additional Skills & Qualifications Construction environments involving large towers or multi-story projects. Experience working in busy, schedule-driven job sites. Strong communication skills for coordinating with crew members and other trades. Ability to troubleshoot installation issues and adjust work in the field. Reliability in maintaining early start times and consistent attendance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
