Job Description

Job Title:
Senior Solar O&M Technician The Senior Solar O&M Technician is the lead field expert for a portfolio of commercial, industrial, and distributed‑generation solar sites . You independently troubleshoot complex inverter, DC, and AC electrical issues, ensure safe system performance, and provide technical leadership across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot inverter, DC, and AC issues and restore system production Perform advanced electrical diagnostics (IR testing, string isolation, current/voltage checks, HMI analysis) Make independent field decisions to minimize downtime Support remote troubleshooting to reduce unnecessary site visits Document root causes and corrective actions clearly and accurately Complete safety procedures and JSAs for all tasks Mentor junior techs and model safe, disciplined diagnostic practices Perform preventive maintenance on inverters, combiners, disconnects, and BOS equipment Identify recurring issues and escalate with proper documentation Manage spare parts and provide inventory input Collaborate with monitoring teams to validate alarms and prioritize work Travel regularly across the regional site portfolio Essential Skills 3+ years in commercial, C&I, or utility‑scale solar O&M Inverter troubleshooting experience (string or central systems) Ability to independently diagnose DC field and inverter‑related issues Proficiency with multimeters, clamp meters, meggers, and inverter HMIs Strong communication and field leadership Valid driver's license and willingness to travel Ability to follow safety procedures and complete JSAs Additional Qualifications Experience reducing repeat inverter faults through root‑cause analysis Familiarity with DAS and monitoring platforms Experience mentoring junior technicians Comfort working across multiple C&I and DG sites Preference for commercial/utility O&M backgrounds over residential-only experience Why Work Here You join a team that values technical excellence, autonomy, and ownership . Work Environment This is a field‑based role covering Chicagoland, Southern Illinois, and Southern Wisconsin . Work involves outdoor tasks around inverters, combiners, disconnects, and BOS equipment, using diagnostic tools in varied site conditions typical of solar facilities and industrial environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
