Job Description

Hardscape Foreman Summit Scapes Construction — Kirkville, NY $25.00 to $30.00 per hour • Full-time • Year-round Summit Scapes builds patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, and outdoor living spaces. This is a hardscape position, not a maintenance position. If your day is mowing and mulch, this is not your job. If your day is base, grade, and cuts, keep reading. The job You run one hardscape crew from load-out to punch list. Layout is yours. Grade is yours. The finished product is yours. Set layout and elevations off the plan, and verify pitch while the base is going in, not after the pavers are down. Direct a crew of 2 to 4 through excavation, base, bedding, install, cuts, and jointing. Run and maintain the equipment on your job: skid steer, mini excavator, plate compactor, demo saw, laser level.
Call the day:
material quantities, what gets ordered, and what gets fixed before it gets buried. Handle the customer professionally on site. Scope, price, and added work go to the office, not settled in the driveway. What you need to already know These are the filters, and they get checked in the interview.
Base for hardscape:
excavation depth, fabric on subgrade, crusher run in lifts, compaction, screeded bedding.
Pitch:
how much, which direction, and how you set and confirm it.
Retaining walls:
base trench, level first course, batter, clean stone backfill, drainage to daylight, geogrid where the height calls for it. A polymeric sand install that does not haze or wash out. Cuts and borders that look intentional, curves included. Control when cutting, and 811 before excavation.
Plan to material order:
area, depth to cubic yards, waste factor. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the shop for early load-out. Helps, but not required Seat time across multiple paver systems (Unilock, Techo-Bloc, Cambridge, Belgard). Laser level fluency, setting and checking grade. Pay and schedule $25.00 to $27.00 per hour, set by verified experience. Year-round employment with snow plowing / wall work. Summit does not lay this position off for the winter. Paid time off. Paid training and certifications. Busy season means long days and the occasional Saturday. Summit Scapes Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
