Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic finance team as an Assistant Accountant and become a vital contributor to our financial operations! You will assist in managing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Duties Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday. Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify financial accuracy. Prepare journal entries for general ledger transactions following GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards. Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation. Help ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and governmental accounting regulations. Contribute to payroll management tasks utilizing systems like ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, or UltiPro, including payroll data entry and audit support. Assist with budgeting processes, financial reporting, and audit preparations as needed. Skills Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, GAAP, and governmental accounting standards. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Experience with payroll management systems like ADP or Ceridian is highly desirable. Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping. Familiarity with financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and account analysis. Ability to perform data entry accurately using 10 key typing skills; attention to detail is essential. Excellent math skills combined with strong analytical thinking for account analysis and budgeting tasks. Experience working within public accounting or non-profit organizations is a plus; familiarity with tax experience is beneficial.
