Job Description
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Provides GIS support for the Department of Community Development and Department of Economic Development. Provides GIS support for the Department of Community Development and provides assistance to the Department of Economic Development by using GIS, ArcMAp10 to create maps; analyzing data; and completing necessary computation for upcoming projects. Serves as back-up staff person for address management procedures and technical advisor to City View carried out by Department of Community Development. Attends meetings and training sessions. Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned. Education and Experience Associate's Degree, with knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative or technical nature, and over three years up to and including five years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above. Certifications/Licenses Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record according to City criteria. Job Knowledge Advanced knowledge of the subject matter. Complete comprehension of the subject area to solve common and unusual problems, able to advise on technical matters, and serve as a resource on the subject for others.Reading Advanced:
Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents.Writing Advanced:
Ability to Ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques.Math Intermediate:
Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Communication Skills Decisions regarding interpretation of policies may be made. Contact may involve stressful, negative interactions requiring high levels of tact, and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas. Independence and Decision-Making Normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically. Technical Skills Work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Fiscal Responsibilities Completes research for documents, compiles data for computer entry, and/or enters or oversees data entry. Has responsibility for monitoring budget/fiscal expenditures (typically non-discretionary expenditures) for a work unit of less than department size (programs, activities, projects or small organizational units) or responsibility for fiscal management of capital project(s). May recommend budget allocations. Supervisory Responsibilities May occasionally direct helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sedentary physical effort, exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally, or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time. Constant sitting, fine dexterity; vision, hearing, talking to use computer, telephone and communicate effectively with others. Frequent standing, walking, handling, twisting. Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of City equipment, tools and other resources, including work time. Regular and predictable attendance is expected. Frequently experiences time pressure, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, tedious or exacting work. May occasionally experience irregular work schedule/overtime. May rarely experience emergency situations, noisy/distracting environment.MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
Typically requires use of standard office equipment and telephone, and related software and hardware; and any other tools and equipment as appropriate or as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENT
This work is performed in an office environment and sites. There may be respiratory hazards and extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity seasonally; rarely there may be communicable diseases or physical danger or abuse.
