Position Summary:

The Staff Attorney will primarily provide legal advice and representation to Kent State students charged with criminal misdemeanors and traffic offenses. The Staff Attorney will also handle select civil matters as needed, such as victim assistance, basic estate planning, and landlord-tenant issues. The position involves regular practice and court appearances in Kent and Ravenna Municipal Courts, as well as participation in student outreach and educational programming. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting student success, including education and retention efforts. Required Qualifications:

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Ohio. Members of the Class of 2026 are invited to apply if sitting for the Ohio July 2026 Bar Examination. Bar passage is required for continuation of the position and if the candidate does not pass, the position may be terminated.

Work Schedule and Location:

This is a full time, in person position based in our Kent State SLS office, 164 E. Main Street, Kent. Standard business hours are in-office, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach events.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package including health and dental insurance, retirement match, paid leave, paid bar registration and continued legal education, and paid parking.
