Job Description

The following is a list of incentives for Civilian staff in

QCPD:

Hiring Bonus/Incentive pay of $7,500 for Professional staff ( All hiring bonuses are listed as the net-pay you will receive): $1,000 after hire date. $500 after successful completion of Position-Specific Training $1,000 after successful completion of your probation $2,500 after the successful completion of 1 year (after probation) $2,500 after the successful completion of 2 years (after probation) Vacation & Sick time front-load For the Police Professional staff, at the time of hire you will receive a one-time addition of 80 hours of vacation and 80 hours of sick time. Vacation and sick time biweekly accruals at the normal rates for new hires. Education Bonus (if applicable) A one-time bonus for education/earned degree payable after successful completion of your probation. The degree must be from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice studies, social sciences, business management, leadership, forensic science, psychology, or other degree related to the core functions of your position. The degree must be earned/awarded prior to your hire date. If you earn a degree following your hire date, you may qualify for a different educational incentive provided by the Town. More information will be provided during your initial orientation. If you have earned multiple degrees, you will receive the incentive specified for the highest degree earned/presented that relates to your core functions of your position.

The incentive is as follows:
Associate Degree:

$500

Bachelor Degree:

$1,000 Masters (or higher): $1,500 Moving Expenses (if applicable) If a police department employee moves to within 30 miles of the Town borders after receiving a final offer of employment, that individual may be eligible for a one-time payment of potential expenses. Guidelines for this payment are as follows: In-state (Arizona) move under 90 miles: $250 In-state (Arizona) move over 90 miles: $500 Out-of-state move: $1,500 Travel Reimbursement (if applicable) We will reimburse travel costs related to testing activities that occur after you have received a conditional offer letter. Must keep all receipts. The maximum daily reimbursement will be based on current GSA rates:

JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Positions assigned to this class assist with the daily operations of the Real Time Information Center by performing technology-based investigative work in a real-time capacity to support law enforcement response to active public safety calls.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a senior administrative level classification in the public safety support job family. Incumbent(s) performs the full range of support duties under general supervision. Classification requires knowledge of law enforcement operations as well as the ability to effectively communicate in a high stress, time sensitive environment via radio, and other communication channels. Work may vary from basic to more complex duties and issues but are generally within expected parameters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary. Actively supports and upholds the Town of Queen Creek Police Department's mission and values; and, sets goals and objectives for the unit. Observes, detects, and appropriately reports criminal elements and suspicious activity to dispatchers and responding officers that is observed through video streams. Prepares incident, supplemental, and investigative reports that are clear, concise, and accurate as relating to Real Time Information Center operations. Monitors and/or operates various forms of technology such as laptops, desktop computers, camera systems, radios, and telephones simultaneously. Conducts open source and restricted queries using specialized criminal justice intelligence-based databases and provides intelligence and investigative assistance to patrol, investigations, and other public safety personnel in real time. Performs key functions requiring technical expertise and attention to detail such as entry, query, and retrieval of investigative data; location of source documents and reports from a variety of computer systems, as well as investigative, intelligence and open-source applications. Applies criminal justice and legal protocols, follows all related agency policies, and exercises technical expertise in the capture, preparation, and storage of data and video work product. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, facts and circumstances of importance during and immediately following a police response to a public safety call for service, often during dynamic and stressful conditions. Immediately reports all significant incidents to the Real Time Information Center Supervisor for command notifications. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Valid AZ Driver's License; Level A Terminal Operator Certification (from the Department of Public Safety) within 6 months of hire or promotion date

Special Requirements:

Must complete a thorough background investigation including a criminal history check and a polygraph examination.

KNOWLEDGE

Possess visual and auditory acuity, and good speech and voice modulation. Understand technical materials, oral or written instruction, and demonstrates comprehension through performance. Possess technical knowledge and understands relationships between disparate but relevant investigative software packages. Customer service procedures and techniques; Proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation; Town, State, Federal, and department procedures, policies and guidelines; Town code; chain-of-command protocol; Arizona Revised Statutes; SKILLS Demonstrate speed, fluidity, and accuracy in concurrently operating multiple technologies under stressful and time pressure conditions. Type brief, concise, and accurate written statements. Utilize the department's Records Management System suite of applications, evidence.com evidence management system, and other task-specific software. Maintain confidentiality and security of highly sensitive information and other records. Ability to act independently. Demonstrate mental alertness and emotional stability. Communicate clearly and concisely via radio and telephone, and in person. Remain flexible in an environment with changing priorities, deadlines, and schedules. Following oral and written instructions; Operating standard office equipment; Using computers and related software applications; Prepare a variety of documents and information relevant to assignment; Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and other interested parties sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
