Bar Manager / Beverage Director About Marée Marée is a coastal neighborhood bistro and bar in Spring Lake, rooted in elevated hospitality, thoughtful food and beverage, and a warm, energetic dining experience.

We are seeking a Bar Manager / Beverage Director who brings creativity, leadership, operational discipline, and a deep passion for hospitality to lead and evolve our beverage program. Position Overview This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the beverage program, bar operations, and bar team while actively working behind the bar. The Bar Manager / Beverage Director is expected to bartend regularly (minimum four shifts per week) while leading the program, ensuring consistency, profitability, and an exceptional guest experience. ResponsibilitiesBeverage Program Leadership Develop, implement, and execute seasonal cocktail, wine, and beer programs Maintain consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and execution Create and document recipes, specs, and training materials Stay current on industry trends in mixology, craft beer, and global wines Hands-On Service (Bartending Requirement) Actively bartend a minimum of four (4) shifts per week Deliver exceptional guest experience at the bar and dining room Lead by example through speed, precision, and hospitality during service Maintain strong presence on the floor during peak service times Financial Management Maintain beverage cost at or below target (20%) Manage bar labor within target range (18%-22%) Oversee inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships Control waste, shrinkage, and over-purchasing Analyze performance and adjust strategies to improve profitability Team Leadership Hire, train, schedule, and develop bar staff Foster accountability, professionalism, and team culture Lead pre-shift meetings, tastings, and ongoing staff education Coordinate vendor-led trainings and industry seminars Events + Brand Development Collaborate with ownership and marketing team on events, tastings, and activations Support social media and PR initiatives related to the beverage program Build relationships with local vendors, distillers, winemakers, and breweries Help position Marée as a destination for beverage-driven experiences Operations + Compliance Ensure adherence to all sanitation, safety, and alcohol service laws Maintain clean, organized, and efficient bar operations Support loss prevention and proper cash handling procedures Integrate beverage program into overall restaurant operations Qualifications Proven experience as a Bar Manager, Beverage Director, or senior bartender in an upscale environment Strong expertise in mixology, spirits, craft beer, and global wines Hands-on service mindset with willingness and enthusiasm to bartend regularly Strong financial acumen with understanding of beverage cost and labor management Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to think quickly and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment Passion for training, mentoring, and continuous improvement Work Expectations Full-time leadership role with active bartending responsibilities Minimum four (4) bartending shifts per week required Nights, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal availability required Long and occasionally erratic hours during high-volume periods Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kegs, cases, and bar equipment Compensation Base salary plus bartending hourly wage + tips Quarterly bonus potential based on: Beverage cost performance Bar labor management Inventory and purchasing controls Overall leadership and execution Two (2) weeks paid wellness time annually Opportunity for growth within the Marée leadership team Growth Opportunity This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a dynamic beverage program within an evolving hospitality group, with creative input, brand-building influence, and leadership development.
