All job offers are contingent upon Human Resources final approval This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Collections Strategies Student Assistant for the Library Collection Strategies at Oregon State University (OSU). We are seeing a detail-oriented student to support the Collection Strategies unit starting as soon as availability allows. This position will primarily assist the course reserves team, helping place course materials on reserve for use by students throughout the year. There will also be opportunities for other projects within the Collection Strategies unit as needs arise.

Position Duties:

Learn how to use specialized library software to connect course materials with course information in the library catalog (Technology). Learn how to upload files of scanned books to the library catalog as part of a library effort to increase accessibility of course materials ( Equity & Inclusion) Process course reserve requests: be accountable for transferring data from email to a shared spreadsheet to achieve common goals (Technology, Teamwork) Use spreadsheets, email and Slack to effectively communicate with other library employees (Communication, Critical Thinking) Assist library employees with other projects as needed (Teamwork) As skills develop over time, you will: Work with increased independence to evaluate bibliographic information to confirm incoming course reserves requests match library holdings (Critical Thinking) Transferable Skill Development OSU is committed to ensuring students are prepared for success after graduation through intentional skill development as student employees. •International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ( USCIS ). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services ( OIS ), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of creating documents using a Word processor (Microsoft Word preferred) Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or comparable Google tools (Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs) Strong attention to detail Strong communication skills Ability to stay focused on tasks in an office environment Ability to follow precise instructions and ask clarifying questions as needed

Working Conditions/Schedule:

Anticipated Starting Pay:

$15.55/hour

• Work schedule is during Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 7 PM; 10 hours/week at The Valley Library at Oregon State University (OSU)

• Tasks will take place in an office environment, onsite only
