Executive Assistant Longwire Olathe, KS Job Details Part-time | Full-time $50,000•$70,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Client inquiry handling Executive administrative support Managing executive calendars File organization Office record organization Full Job Description Are you up for the challenge? About Longwire Longwire is a Kansas City-based home technology company — smart homes, home theaters, home wifi, and whole-home audio. We've built a strong reputation for the quality of our work, and demand has never been the problem — organization has. Growth has been capped by how systematized we are behind the scenes, not by how good the work is. That's exactly the gap this role exists to close. Who You'd Be Working For A quick, honest word from our
CEO, Rob:
I have ADHD, and it shapes how I run this business. In practice, that comes down to a few things worth knowing up front: I move fast and think in ideas — I'm better at handing you the "what" than the "how." Expect direction in pieces, not a full roadmap on day one. I have the ideas that'll make this a better company — what I need is someone who can figure out how to actually implement them, get them implemented, and keep them running after the novelty's worn off for me. I genuinely want you to push back when you think I'm wrong — I'd rather hear "I hear you, but here's a better way" than watch you quietly do it my way and watch it fail. That said, I'll also take what you bring me, scrutinize it, and keep the parts I like.
Example:
if you want to overhaul how we track a job from quote to invoice, and I love the tracking idea but hate the software you picked, expect me to keep the idea and lose the tool. That's not rejection — that's how we land on the best version, together. None of that is an excuse — it's context. I know I need to be wrangled, and I'm looking for someone who's genuinely good at doing that. In return, I'll be straight with you and I'll listen. My core team has been with me for years, through good stretches and hard ones — business and personal — and that says more about how I treat people than anything I could put in a job post. What This Role Actually Looks Like This role will evolve as we grow and hire more admin staff. Right now, it's broad: you'll do a bit of everything, the way I do, so that I can step back from the day-to-day and focus on marketing and sales. It's less "office manager" and more "right hand" — if you know the book Rocket Fuel, I'm the Visionary, and I need an
Integrator:
someone who takes my ideas and actually makes them happen. Duties include, but aren't limited to: Answering client inquiries and staying on top of follow-up — this is a big one; I need someone who makes sure no client ever goes cold Tracking a handful of key business KPIs and keeping them visible Making sure every job, project, and service call actually gets billed and collected — nothing falls through the cracks Organizing our file structure so photos, documents, and job files are easy to find Learning our software and using AI tools to help us get more organized and efficient Managing the CEO's calendar and task list — including personal things like doctor's appointments Tracking equipment orders Helping develop and document our business and installation processes
Generally:
helping Rob run the business Who Thrives in This Role You're unbothered by ambiguity — you can take "figure it out" and actually figure it out You build structure without being asked, and you don't take it personally when a system needs to change You're comfortable being direct with your boss — reminding him, redirecting him, nudging him You're comfortable learning new software and AI tools — this job runs on both, and they'll keep changing You're patient, low-ego, and steady — chaos doesn't rattle you Based in the Kansas City area Schedule & Pay We're open to part-time or full-time, and can shape the schedule around the right person. In-person is ideal, especially early on while we build our systems together, but it isn't a hard requirement.
