Food Pantry Coordinator

Job Description

A Place To Turn is a food pantry located in Natick, MA, serving 12 surrounding communities. The Food Pantry Coordinator (FPC) reports directly to the Purchasing and Logistics Director. The FPC is part of all pantry operations, interacting with clients and volunteers regularly. Given current demographics of clients who use the food pantry the FPC needs to speak English and Spanish and/or Portuguese fluently. This is a physical role that requires lifting boxes of food and being on your feet, especially during pantry set-up and client distribution hours.
Hours:
35/week, including occasional evening and weekend hours
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Client Registration Greet and check-in clients. Accurately capture all information in client database. Assist clients in making appointments. Pantry Operations Perform all necessary duties to ensure a smooth distribution including but not limited to stocking and shopping with clients if needed. Assist with unloading, sorting and storage of deliveries. Assist with checking expiration dates. In collaboration with the other Food Pantry Coordinator, set up Farmer's Market, Kitchen and stock shelves before each distribution and break down when pantry closes. Pickup donations/orders as needed. Enter in-kind donations in donor database. Assist with mobile markets as needed. Volunteer Management Work closely with the Pantry and Logistics Coordinator to: Recruit new volunteers and manage all volunteer inquiries. Train and supervise volunteers, including retention and appreciation. Manage the Student Ambassador Program. Skills and Attributes Bi-lingual in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese Ability to lift at least 40 pounds Valid driver's license and willingness to drive agency van and truck Passion for working to solve food insecurity. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively.
